

Franklin Wayne Chambers, 80, of Lufkin, was born January 19, 1930 in Zavalla, Texas, the son of the late Bama (Franklin) and Robert Chambers. He passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Chambers was retired from Angelina College as the Food Service Director. He also owned several local restaurants, including Chambers Seafood and Chambers Catering. He also helped establish the Angelina County Meals on Wheels program. Mr. Chambers served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Avy Chambers of Lufkin; sons, Jonathan Wayne Chambers and Timothy Franklin Chambers, both of Zavalla; grandchildren, Bradley, Patrick, Kyle, Alex, Christopher, Taylor and Kiersten; great-grandchildren, Destiny and Nevaeh; and soon to be expected great-grandchildren, Carsen and Levi; sister and brother-in-law, Janiece and Kelen Marshall of Port Neches; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Helen Hill.
Mr. Chambers' grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
Graveside services for Mr. Chambers will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 in the Chambers Cemetery, with Bro. Joe Carriere officiating.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
