Fred Wilson

Fred D. Wilson, 71, of Lufkin, was born November 7, 1938 in Seminole, Oklahoma, the son of the late Dorotha (Killingsworth) and Fred D. Wilson. He passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 in a local hospital.

Fred was a devoted husband and father. He was retired from Temple-Inland, where he was a draftsman and worked in the mineral department for 12 years. He graduated from high school in Bell Gardens, California and attended college in Bakersfield, California. Fred served his county with the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mavis Wilson of Lufkin; son, Greg Wilson of Austin; brother, James A. Wilson of Carmel, CA; and sisters, Martha Jo Beauregard of Sacramento, CA and Cathy J. Holmes of San Juan Batista, CA.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Mayes, Mel Mayes, Vernon Mayes and Jim Mayes.

Funeral services for Fred will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Heritage Baptist Church, with Reverend Art George and Pastor Jim Housley officiating. Interment services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010 in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
