Gene Childress Albritton was born January 19, 1939, to James Dixon Albritton and Charlsie Emma Haley Albritton. Gene arrived as a triplet with his sisters Joyce and Patricia. He passed away on Saturday, August 30th, at Woodland Heights Hospital.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son Gene Gregory Albritton; his sisters Evelyn Free, Charlenen Sharp, Betty Craig, and Patricia Williams; his brother Jerry Albritton; as well as several brothers-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Anne; daughters Jessica Rene Bratt of London, England, and Christina Diane Albritton of Nacogdoches, Texas; sisters Dorothy Hearne and Joyce Crain; nephews Mark Ward, Mike Free, Donald Heaton, Robert Hearne, Jerry Crain, and John Crain; and nieces Dedra Heaton, Anna Blocker, and Lawana Gernant.
On March 25, 1963, Gene married Mary Anne Kelly. Together they had three precious children and built their home in Hudson. Gene was a talented mechanic, owning and operating Gene's Front End Repair alongside Mary Anne for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and visiting and telling stories with family and friends. An avid gardener, he always had a large vegetable garden and generously shared produce with others.
Gene was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on January 27, 1949, and attended the Central Lufkin congregation for many years. He took much comfort from Bible passages such as Revelation 21:3-4, which speaks of a time with no more death, pain, or sorrow. He looked forward to the resurrection of loved ones he longed to see.
