MeMaw was born Geraldine (Gerry) Elizabeth Lake on October 28, 1925. She was the only child of John Gerald Lake and Helen Britton Lake. She went home to be with our Lord at the age of 95 on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at home surrounded by family.
She graduated from Milby High School in Houston and then received a certificate of business degree. She loved working at the local Ration Board of Houston during WWII in 1947. She loved going to Dude Ranches with her girlfriend and dearly loved to dance.
MeMaw was a loving stay-at-home mom. Her children were her life. She was the best cook around and loved cornbread. She was also the best mother-in-law ever and was loved by so many.
She was so shy and very quiet and mild-mannered. She met the love of her life, "Sonny Frank", in 1950 at Lykes Bros. Steamship Co. in Houston where they both worked. They married July 6, 1951 in San Francisco before Sonny left for the Navy. Sonny always said "She is the most beautiful girl in Houston."
They raised 3 children; twins (Larry and Linda) and Joy (the baby). After living in Houston they moved to Lufkin in 1964, where Sonny worked at Mrs. Bairds Bread Co. Gerry also worked at the bread store from 1970-1995 with her son and daughter. She retired at age 70.
She loved to travel to the mountains. She loved to go to church and praise her God and sing His praises on Sunday, then go out to eat with the family. They had very special times together.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Gayle Nelson and husband Harold of Etoile and Joy Diana Carpenter and husband Jeff of Lufkin; son, Larry Edward Frank and wife Jerry of Fuller Springs; grandchildren, Candace McBride and husband Chip, Charity Lyles and husband Clif, Jason Carpenter and wife Heather, Justin Carpenter and wife Cassie, Dolen Hill and Tabitha, Trevor Nelson and Chrissy and Trent Nelson and wife April; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Frank; and special cousin, Kenneth.
