Funeral service for Harlan Glen Cox, 89, of Lufkin, will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Trey Ainsworth officiating.
Harlan was born December 9, 1933 in Lufkin, Texas and passed away January 30, 2023 at 9:04 a.m. at CHI Memorial Hospital.
Glen went to work at Southland Paper Mill, November 1952, and retired from St. Regis in November 1990. He started out on the paper machines and retired in the Tech. lab. Glen was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church. Glen and his wife, Fannie Ladd Cox were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church and did a lot of mission work there.
Glen and Fannie Ladd Cox were married November 27, 1950 and had 66 years of happy marriage until Fannie’s death in 2016. They had twins, girl, Glenda Ann Cox Hatcher, and boy, Glen Dan Cox, in July 1952.
Glen’s favorite to fill his spare time was going fishing. There was nothing he had rather do than go fishing. He also loved working in his yard.
He is survived by his son, Dan Cox; granddaughter, Mary Ann Hitton; great-grandson, Brian Cox; sisters-in-law, Daisy Anthony, Ollie Bundrick, Helen Ladd, Nita Lewis and husband, Elvin Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Ladd Cox; daughter, Glenda Ann Cox Hatcher; brothers and spouses, Jesse and Nell Cox, Oren and Mozelle Cox, Opal and Tommy Miller, Emma Lee and Vechel Thompson; parents, Noah and Bonnie Cox; father-in-law, Fred Ladd; mother-in-law, Garvis Burnett Ladd; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Ladd, B C Ladd and wife, Joy Ladd, Lloyd Anthony, Gerald Bundrick.
We would like to thank all the employees at Southland Rehab Center for all the kindness shown to Glen while he was there.
Because of all the rain, we will have a private burial service at Gann Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
