

Henry Manuel Wesley, 81, of Sugar Land (formerly of Huntington), was born November 13, 1929 in Huntington, Texas, the son of the late Dessie Mae (Brown) and Yancy Fate Wesley. He passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Sugar Land.
Mr. Wesley was retired from Montgomery Ward as a tire salesman. Prior to that, he was a police officer in Houston in 1960 and then in Amarillo in 1962. He also worked for Westmoreland Farm and Dairy as a route salesman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Manuel and Beth retired to Huntington in 1987. He also enjoyed growing vegetables and would produce enough so he could give them away. Mr. Wesley served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He was a member of Huntington United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rory and Debbie Wesley and grandson, Devin Wesley of Sugar Land; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and LaVerne Wesley of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Billie Wesley of Huntington; brother-in-law, Hubert "Jack" Carrell of Bedias; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wesley was preceded in death by his wife, Etta "Beth" Wesley in 2006; brothers, Grady Bryan "G. B." Wesley and Ishmael Wesley; and sisters, Vannie Wesley and Edith DuBose.
Pallbearers will be Carey Wesley, Wes Wesley, Dean Wesley, Verl DuBose, Coylynn DuBose, and Robert Loggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Wesley, Floyd Russell, Mike Morris, and Cletus Russell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Wesley's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Emeritis of Sugar Land, 151 Commerce Green Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
Services for Mr. Wesley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Huntington United Methodist Church, with Reverend Pinckney Love officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Oddfellow Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
