Herman P. "H.P." Collins

Mr. Collins was retired from Lufkin Industries. He enjoyed trout fishing. He was a member of a remote control airplane club, and enjoyed working on remote control airplanes and model trains and working in his yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their baseball games. Mr. Collins was a charter member and Deacon of Herty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert McBride; son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne and Kathy Collins; grandchildren, Kevin and Dana McBride, Kelly and Shane Self, Chris Collins and Trent Collins; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Trevor, Cade, and Austin; and a number of other family members and friends.

Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marion F. Collins; great-grandson, Chandler McBride; and great-granddaughter, Camryn Collins.

Pallbearers will be Chris Collins, Trent Collins, Shane Self, Trevor Self, Mike Collins, Alan Collins, Mike Parker and Tommy Parker.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Herty Baptist Church.

Services for Mr. Collins will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Kim Bartel officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
