

Funeral services for I. D. Anderson, 88, of Huntington will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims/Rocky Hill Cemetery in Huntington, Texas.
Mr. Anderson was born November 13, 1927 in Angelina County to the late Will Anderson and the late Vennie (Moncrief) Anderson. He passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at his residence in Huntington.
Mr. Anderson was a lifelong resident of the Rocky Hill Community in Huntington, Texas. He worked as a carpenter for a large part of his life and as a farmer/rancher in later life. He loved tending to his cows. He enjoyed fishing and especially hunting. Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Army from 1952 – 1954 and receiving three bronze stars. He was cherished by his family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Louise Billingsley Anderson of Huntington; children, Roy Anderson and wife Joyce, Jo Ann Hadley and husband Raymond, and Judy Batson and husband Melvin, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Chris Anderson, Taffi Abens and husband Uriah, Jason Hadley, Cassie Hadley, Raylan Long and Austin Long; six great grandchildren; and special caretaker, Mary Dell Stanley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vennie; father, Will; and all his sisters: Amy Curbow, Arbutus Miller, Arlene Russell, Mae Russell Capps, and Bonnie Denman.
Pallbearers will be Chris Anderson, Jason Hadley, Austin Long, Uriah Abens, James Thomas, and David Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandchildren: Joshua, Samuel, Benjamin, Abby, Blake and Lexi.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
