Ivalene Wilson Allen, 92, of Lufkin, was born November 18, 1919 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Sarah Effie (Allen) and William Deaton Wilson. She passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Allen was retired from the Lufkin State School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a great cook. She was a community caregiver, never met a stranger, and her door was always open to everyone. She was a member of Allentown United Pentecostal Church and loved her church and fellow members.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Diann Smith and Shelby Jean Liles; son, Robert Allen; grandchildren, Ronda Sharp, Lynn Runnels, Deena Edwards, Brandon Fitts, Janine Sullivan, Gerald Smith, Joanie Taylor, Pam Tuttle, and Jimmy Liles; 16 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; sister, Sarah Elizabeth "Libby" Wilson; and a number of other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Chester Allen; daughters, Syble Holsomback and Sharon "Bit" Fitts; and brother, Grady Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Fitts, Gerald Smith, Jimmy Liles, William Lusk, Wayne Lusk and Leonard Tuttle.
Services for Mrs. Allen were held on Monday, January 2, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Ray Pinner officiating. Interment followed in the Gann Cemetery.
