Services for Jack “Poppie” O. Warner, Sr., 95, of Pollok, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Keith Bickley and Bro. Tim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Warner was born August 11, 1922 in Diboll, Texas, the son of the late Laura (Massingill) and Enoch Marvin Warner. He passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 in a local hospital.
Mr. Warner was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from Southwest Color Print. He was a friendly person and never met a stranger. He enjoyed watching baseball and playing with the “Diboll Millers”. He also enjoyed playing bluegrass music. Mr. Warner proudly served his county in the United States Navy during World War II, serving from 1942 until 1946. He was a member of Pollok Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ima Jean Warner of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Toni Warner of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Steve Childress of Pollok and Sherry and Randy Brewer of Nacogdoches; grandsons, Brian Warner, Dwayne Childress and wife Amber and Heath Brewer and wife Chelsey; granddaughter, Heather Brewer; great-grandchildren, Austin Brewer, Kenzie Warner, Brianna Warner, Luccasey Brewer, Conley Brewer, Cabella Brewer, Westin Childress, and Haylie Childress; sister, Marcia Jones; best friend, Taylor Brewer; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Warner was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Pallbearers will be Brian Warner, Heath Brewer, Dwayne Childress, Austin Brewer, Bob Jones and Taylor Brewer.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Pollok Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
