James Wesley "Jim" Harris

.Services for Jim Harris, 83, of Diboll, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan Chapel Cemetery in Diboll.

Mr. Harris was born August 22, 1934 in Angelina County, the son of the late Etta (Warner) and Wes Harris, and passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Harris was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed being with his family. His hobby was fishing. Mr. Harris was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Harris; daughter, Jimmie Lee and Brandall Porter; and daughter, Janie Mettlen, all of Diboll; granddaughter, Wendi and Bahjat Ogielat; grandson, Dustin and Jennifer Harris; granddaughter, Erica Mettlen; grandson, Jim Mettlen; grandson, Drew Porter; great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Abi Martinez, Maddie and Kenzie Schultz, Emma Harris, and Camryn Mettlen; brother, Bobby D. Harris; sisters-in-law, Alice Halsell and Emily Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers, Lyndall and Wilburn; son-in-law, Eric Mettlen; and granddaughter, Jennifer Mettlen.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Harris, Bahjat Ogielat, Drew Porter, Jim Mettlen, Tommy Harris and Jesse Calderon.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
