

Services for James A. (Jim) Meador, 92, of Diboll, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Reverend Cindy Duran and Bro. Bud Bonner officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Meador was born October 14, 1920 in Smith County, Tennessee, the son of the late Bessie C. (West) and William A. Meador. He passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mr. Meador was retired from Exxon Corp. as a draftsman. He was a devoted husband and father, and was always there for everyone. He helped build Ryan Chapel Cemetery and was a past treasurer of the cemetery. He was a member of Burke United Methodist Church and was very active in his church. Mr. Meador served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his son, James A. Meador, Jr., of Diboll; sister, Virginia Jordan of Austin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Meador was preceded in death by his wife, Opal S. Meador; and sister, Frances Echols.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gipson Funeral Home.
