Janet Marie Angel, age 84, of Lufkin, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2026. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Janet lived her life as a reflection of God’s love showing kindness, grace, and compassion to everyone she encountered. Her steady devotion, gentle spirit, and quiet strength were a blessing to her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Janet found great joy in her faith and in the love of her family. During her teens up to her late thirty’s, she sang in church choirs or solo. Some of her favorite hymns were “Face to Face with Christ my Savior,” “Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine,” and “It is Well with my Soul.” While her children were in their elementary years, she taught child evangelism in “The Good News Club” to the neighborhood for approximately ten years. The front room of her home would be packed each week with at least 25 children wanting to hear stories about Jesus. It was truly her passion, and she shared God’s love in countless meaningful ways. In her later years, she was involved in the Women’s Prison Ministry in Lufkin, Texas.
She is lovingly survived by her sister, Donna L. Deilgot; her children, Steve D. Wilke, Teri L. Cowling, and Mark O. Wilke; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Angel. Her legacy of faith and love lives on through each of them, and in the many lives she touched.
Though her presence on earth will be deeply missed, her family finds peace and comfort in knowing she now rests in eternal glory.
A memorial service will be held at Houston National Cemetery on May 4, 2026, at 2 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of her life, her faith, and the promise of everlasting life.
