

Services for Jerry Dean Poindexter, 54, of Pollok, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kevin Poage officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Jerry was born March 5, 1962 in Hobbs, New Mexico, the son of the late Shirley (Lee) and Robert Poindexter. He passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at his residence.
Jerry was a purple heart, bronze-star recipient in the Navy Seal. He served for 3 years and loved his country. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and horseback riding. He was a member of 8 years at Clawson Assembly of God. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Patricia Poindexter of Pollok; sons, Tyler Poindexter and Seth Poindexter, both of Pollok; daughter, Leah O’Neal of Lufkin; grandson, Judah Khai Cooper of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Vanessa Forest of Louisiana; sisters, Debbie Bangas of Lufkin, and Joy Harris of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Poindexter.
Pallbearers will be Keith Allen, Norris “Skip” Goodwin, Adam Howard, Bobby Kennedy, Chris Small and Cody Allen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Poindexter, Tyler Poindexter, Kenneth Raines and Monte Cochran.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
