Mr. Grier graduated from Lufkin High School where he excelled in track, football, and baseball. He worked as a master plumber, an electrician, and in sales. He enjoyed playing in softball leagues and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns football.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Anna Kay.
He is survived by his sons, Tyson Grier and wife Amy, and Preston Grier; daughter, Stacey Ayles and husband Eric; five grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lou Mossman and husband Bill.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gipson Funeral Home.
