
John Jamroz, 81, of Lufkin, was born October 30, 1928 in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Mary Agnes (Bartula) and Joseph Jamroz. He passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Jamroz was a draftsman/engineer for Occidental Petroleum, working in Shreveport and Houston. He moved to Texas in 1975 from Shreveport, LA and moved to Lufkin in 1994 following his retirement. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, shooting pool, and was a marksman and accomplished spring board diver. He was a volunteer policemen in Shreveport and formerly coached Little League football. He served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was a Staff Sgt. and was on the dive team. Mr. Jamroz was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jamroz of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael David and Melissa Jamroz of Ace, TX, Mark and Rebecca Jamroz of Benton, LA, and John and Carla Jamroz of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, Joseph and Amber Jamroz, Alicia and Amanda Jamroz, and Madyson and Matthew Jamroz; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Pullum of Riverside, GA; and a number of other family members.
Pallbearers will be Herb McDonald, Jim Johns, Bob Harbuck, Joseph Wackerman, David Hall and Dan Harbuck.
Services for Mr. Jamroz will be held at 11:30 Friday, October 1, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2218 Lowery Street, Lufkin, with Fr. Francis O'Dowd officiating. Interment will follow at the Walker Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening in the Chapel at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
