John T. Martin Jr.

Services for John T. Martin, Jr., 96, of Crosby, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Rev. Kenny Hibbs officiating.

Mr. Martin was born January 14, 1918 in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma, the son of the late Effie Dimma (Vinson) and John Terry Martin, Sr., and passed away January 17, 2014 at his residence in Crosby.

He was in management for Houston Metro Transit. He loved trains and had wanted to be a conductor. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and enjoyed reading, especially later in his life. He loved his family and he enjoyed traveling and camping and was an avid photographer. He was a Mason at the Burke Lodge and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by daughter, Mary Evelyn Pavolini of Crosby; daughter-in-law, Margie Martin of Alvin, TX; sister, Geraldine Pouland of Diboll; twelve grandchildren, Tammie Poupart, Laura Reid and Brandon, all of Crosby, Jennifer and Blake Carter of Bossier City, LA, Leslie Garcia of Clearlake, TX, Terri Lynn Shannon and Glen, John Martin, Jr. and Deloris, all of Kingwood, TX, Aaron Roehrig, Samantha Bushnell and Triston, all of Alvin, Rhonda Findele and Will of Pearland, Harold Brown, John West, both of Alvin, TX, Ann Cole and Kevin of Tolar, TX; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Martin in 1984, son, John Raymond Martin in 2012 and brother, Mazelle Martin.

Pallbearers will be Blake Carter, Brandon Reid, Braden Carter, Joshua Poupart, Brendon Carter, Noah Reid, Bryce Carter and Fletcher Reid.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at the funeral home.
