

John Timothy Wallace, 76, of Diboll, Texas, passed away on February 23, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1948, in Crane, Texas, to Noma (King) and William Warren Wallace, Jr. A graduate of Midland Lee High School in 1967, John went on to earn his Forestry degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1971. In the same year, he married the love of his life, Virginia Gillam, and together they shared 49 wonderful years of marriage.
Upon graduation, John moved to Diboll where he would pursue a 40 plus year career with Temple Inland holding many roles. He was an instrumental leader in fiberboard operations and made a lasting impact on all with whom he worked.
A devoted husband and father, “John” or “Tim” (depending on how you knew him) was a dedicated member of the Timberland Drive Church of Christ.
John, an avid outdoorsman, grew to love East Texas and its ample hunting and fishing opportunities. As often as he could, he explored all across the US in search of big game and boundless fishing adventures. A fan of local school sports, you could often find him in the stands cheering with his distinctive whistle.
John is survived by his five children: sons Clint and wife Tussanee Wallace of Singapore, Jesse and wife Casey Wallace of Katy, TX, Travis and wife Jennifer Wallace of Cypress, TX; daughters Kori and husband Feliciano Estrada of Lufkin, and Keri and husband Andy Ackerman of Lufkin; as well as his grandchildren: Felicity and Isaac Estrada, Kayden, Hayleigh, and Jace Ackerman, Carson, Callie, Caleb, and Carly Wallace. He is also survived by his brothers, Warren and Jeff Wallace. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Wallace, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Timberland Drive Church of Christ in Lufkin, Texas. John's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
