

Services for Josh Russell, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells, Texas.
Mr. Russell was born May 21, 1927 in Huntington, Texas, the son of the late Ginny (Clark) and Joshua Russell. He passed away April 19, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mr. Russell served his country in the Army Air Corp after being drafted for World War II. He had been employed as an electrician at Southland Paper Mill for 32 years. He was a volunteer at Woodland Heights Medical Center for over fifteen years. Mr. Russell was a member of the VFW. His hobbies were selling cars and meeting and greeting people. He was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church in Huntington where he was involved with Sacred Heart Singing. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Emma and Buster.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Syble (Bailey) Russell of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Randy Josh and Susan Russell; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Martha Russell; grandchildren, Hollie and husband Jason Slaback, Addie Russell, and Joseph Russell; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Slaback; brother, Burl Russell; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Russell was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers will be Ed Traweek, Roy Traweek, Brooks Russell, Michael Russell, Charlie Scogin, Phillip Glawson, Phillip Morgan and Thomas Garrard.
Honorary pallbearers will be the WHMC volunteers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Russells’ memory be made to VFW, P. O. Box 393, Lufkin, TX 75902; or The American Heart Association, 1125 Judson Road #150, Longview, TX 75601.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
