Katie was a lifelong friend of mine. As a young boy, my father (Jason Summers) and Katie were close friends when she lived in Nacogdoches. When I visited my father, we would also visit Katie. I remember the great food she made from the great meat (from hunting) or just her fantastic southern cooking. After my father passed away and she moved to Lufkin, I still visited her when I made it back to Texas and I was grateful to remember all the great times we spent together. I am so lucky to have known her and I hope we will all celebrate Katie's life in her passing.

I admired Katy so much. As a little girl, I thought she was the most beautiful person in the world. I always got a little tongue tied when I was around her. She was such a lady!

Such a great neighbor that will be missed. She lived in the Englewood neighborhood her last years and we had 750 trick or treat children. Most of the neighbors quit passing out candy but not Katy. She looked forward to it and was ready for them to come with a smile. When Christmas rolled around she wanted to make sure no matter how sick she was she was going to decorate her house. She had the lights put out and would make sure her lights were burning bright. She was truly amazing. Always willing to help with the other neighbors when tragedy would come. We will miss having such a wonderful neighbor.
