Katholine (Cathie) Callahan Slusher

Services for Katholine (Cathie) Callahan Slusher, 94, of Etoile, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Randy Brown officiating and with honorable mention of Bro. Royce Pennington. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Slusher was born on October 8, 1920 in Longview, Texas, the daughter of the late Andy and Ruth Callahan. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 19, 2015.

She was a resident of Nacalina Subdivision in Etoile, Texas for the past 44 years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially on special occasions. She also enjoyed sewing for her loved ones and special friends. She loved to have visits by her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Patsy Slusher of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Bobby Riley of Etoile; stepson and daughter-in-law, Gene and Joyce Slusher of Keller; grandchildren, Steven Slusher and wife Julie, Scott Slusher and wife Aimee, Katy Riley Coss and husband Alex, and Stephany Riley; great-grandchildren, Jeff Slusher, Bradley Slusher, Lauren Slusher, and Hannah Slusher; and many other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slusher was preceded in death by her husband, L. J. Slusher; sisters, Mildred Callahan and Pauline Malone, nephews, Charles and David Malone; and stepdaughter, Darline Kirkpatrick.

Mrs. Slusher’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Lenin Pinnamaneni and his staff for their many years of care for her.

Pallbearers will be Steven Slusher, Scott Slusher, Jeff Slusher, Bradley Slusher, Bart Malone, and John “Woody” Malone.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
