

Services for Leria Husband Snowden, 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew, David Nash, officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile, Texas. The family will host a memorial luncheon after the graveside services at the Fire Station in Etoile.
Leria was born May 26, 1930 in Chireno, Texas to the late Frank and Myrtle (Layton) Husband. She passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 in Flower Mound, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Leria grew up in Etoile, the oldest of 10 children, five girls and five boys. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1947. She worked in Lufkin as a police dispatcher and later moved to Texas City with her husband, BB Snowden, where they raised three children. They moved to the Dallas area where she eventually retired from the City of Garland.
She was a faithful member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, so often giving up her own dreams to take care of others.
Leria loved coffee chat with her sisters and family dinners. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her “Layton” blue eyes.
She is survived by her three children – Sandee Starling and her husband Howard, Linda Perkins and her husband Steve, and Nathan Snowden; her sisters, Sue Nash, Patricia Meador, Gayle Gower and her husband Richard; her brothers, Frankie Husband, Larry Husband and his wife Cindy, and Michael Husband and his wife Lila; six grandchildren: Angela Miller and her husband Anthony, Steve Starling, David Perkins and his wife Laura, Chris Perkins, Casey Morris and her husband Garre and Chad Snowden; thirteen great grandchildren: Jordan Miller and his wife Emily, Jarrett Miller, Addison Miller, Chaz Starling, Nick Starling, Jackson Perkins, Katherine Perkins, Harrison Perkins, Christan Perkins, Clara Perkins, Caleb Morris and Khloe Morris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, BB Snowden; her parents, Frank and Myrtle Husband; her brothers, Charles “Buddy” Husband and Fred Husband; and her sister, Barbara Kay.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
