

Mr. Ellison attended school in Diboll. He served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963, serving as part of the Cuban Missle Crisis. He then attended Angelina College. He married Lois Green on May 4, 1963. Mr. Ellison co-owned and operated Ellison Electric with his brother, the late Johnny Ellison, for 20 years. He was the City electrical inspector for Diboll. He served on the Diboll ISD School Board for 9 years and the Angelina County Appraisal Board for 12 years. He loved his family, kids and grandkids. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rock hunting, gardening, and being at his lake house. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Green Ellison of Diboll; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and John Bowman of Diboll, Brenda and Clay Platt of Moscow and Cindy and Heath Foust of Huntington; son-in-law and his wife, Bobby and Jessica Knight of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brandon Knight and wife Bridgette, Jake Knight, Cody Platt, Clint Platt, Rachel Bowman, and Grant Bowman; 2 great-grandsons, Carson Knight and Cash Platt; sisters, Shirley Ivey, Betty Dobbs and Alice Ellison; brothers, Ben Brewer, Billy Brewer and Jackie Brewer; a number of nephews, nieces, and cousins; and his lifelong friends, Deeke Thompson and Vernon Oaks.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellison was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny R. Ellison.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Knight, Jake Knight, Cody Platt, Clint Platt, Grant Bowman, and Bobby Knight.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Hospice in the Pines, Leah, Raelynn, and Gwen for the care shown to Mr. Ellison.
Services for Mr. Ellison will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Roy Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
