

Services for Lewis Edward Ferguson, 84, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kevin Poage officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin.
Mr. Ferguson was the son of the late Evie Belle (Robertson) and Reed Ferguson. He was born October 17, 1931 in Angelina County, Texas. He passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016 in a local hospice facility.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a hard worker and always provided for his family. He worked in the core room at Lufkin Industries. Mr. Ferguson was a very religious man and read his Bible every day. He was affiliated with Macedonia Baptist Church, Word of Life Church and Clawson Assembly of God Church. He was an avid reader, a fisherman and enjoyed gardening. He served for a period of time with the National Guard.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Hewitt and husband Jerrell of Livingston; son, Gerald D. Ferguson and wife Kathy of Lufkin; son, Tony Ferguson and wife Melody of Lufkin; daughter, Patricia Pope of Newton; son, James Ferguson and wife Mary of Moscow; 17 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Marie Ferguson in 2006; and brother, Bennie Eugene Ferguson in 2015.
Pallbearers will be Michael Pope, Charles Tinsley, Robert Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson, Cadyn Tinsley and Waylon Hewitt.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
