Laura Marcia Jones (97) passed away July 1, 2025. Funeral services will be held at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park (5202 South 1st St Lufkin, Texas 75901) on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Reverend David Goodwin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Born on September 30, 1927, to the late Laura (Massingill) and Enoch Marvin Warner. After graduating from Diboll High School, she married Byford Jones and moved to Houston until 1981 when they returned to Lufkin. She and Byford were married 67 years until his passing in 2013.
Marcia spent her life devoted to her family and doing the Lord’s work, she was of the Methodist faith. She was active in the Republican Party as a sustaining member, the Pine Tree Garden Club, and Diboll Garden Club.
She is survived by her son, Bobby Lee Jones and wife Shelley (Missouri City, TX): daughter, Beverly Ann Neely and husband, Mason (Fairfield, CT); four grandchildren: Laura Neely Ross and husband Mark (Houston, TX), Dale Neely and wife Kimberly (Fairfield, CT), Lizabeth Thompson and husband Paul (Aurora, CO), Ryan Jones and wife Beth (Pearland, TX), nine great-grandchildren: Meredith Lesieur and husband Jonathan, Haley, Katherine and Mason Neely, Kimberly and Mia Thompson, Rylee and Reid Jones. Her special nieces include Shirley Harris recently deceased (Diboll, TX) and Jimmie Gail Marsh (League City, TX). She loved all her many nieces, nephews, and friends including her very dear friend of many years Diane Singleton.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her sisters Frankie Glass, Johnnie Meyers, Ollie Brashers, Alta Teague, and Mildred Innerarity as well as her brothers Weldon, Morris, Doug, Marvin Lee, and Jack Warner.
With appreciation and gratitude for the care and support given to her by her caretakers over the past few years.
Pallbearers: James McCarty, Ryan Jones, Paul Thompson, Neal Warner, Dale Neely, Mark Ross, Kevin Swor and Roho Pouland.
Honorary pallbearers: John Ralph Pouland, Don Martin, Alan Singleton and members of the Strauss Sunday School class.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, Lufkin TX.
