Maria Olga Martinez

Mass of the Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015, for Maria Olga Martinez, 83, of Diboll, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Diboll, with Father Ariel Cortes, M.S., celebrant. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2015, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Martinez was born August 18, 1932 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, the daughter of the late Paula (Mata) and Jose Villegas. She passed away November 28, 2015 in Lufkin.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, friendly, kind and warm. She enjoyed singing and was very involved in her church. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a charter member of Las Guadalupanas ladies group. She had worked as a custodian at Diboll High School for 15 years. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Nicolas Martinez, Sr.; sons, Joe Martinez and wife Sandy, Jorge Martinez and Nick Martinez, Jr., all of Diboll; daughter, Olga Martinez Moses of Diboll; five grandchildren, Briana Martinez, Tre Moses, Joey Martinez, Cedric Moses and Caleb Moses; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Maria Luz Malanders and Guadalupe Jauregui; one brother, Manuel Mata; father-in-law, Ignacio Martinez; mother-in-law, Amalia Martinez; and brothers-in-law, Joe Malanders and Simon Jauregui.

Pallbearers will be Joey Martinez, Tre Moses, Cedric Moses and Caleb Moses.
