Maxine "Mac" Wilkins Shaw

Maxine "Mac" Shaw, 84, of Diboll, was born January 12, 1926 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Verna (Havard) and Jessie O. Wilkins. She passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Lufkin. Mrs. Shaw was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In her younger days, she enjoyed hunting and fishing. In later years, she enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Shaw was a member of Diboll United Pentecostal Church. Survivors include her granddaughter, Ashley Shaw of Houston; grandson, Eddie Royce Shaw, Jr. of Ft. Hood; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Charlie Horton of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Earlene Wilkins; special nephew, Bo Smith of Diboll; and a number of caring nieces, nephews, other family members, and numerous friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie F. Shaw; son, Eddie Royce Shaw, Sr.; brothers, Garrison Wilkins and Guinn Wilkins; sister, Emma Lou Ivy; sister-in-law, Sue Wilkins; and brother-in-law, Audie Smith. Pallbearers will be Rodney Cheshire, Little Bo Smith, James Thad Leftwich, Virgil Gail Havard, Luis Maldonado and Juan Palacio. Services for Mrs. Shaw will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Ben Heisler and Bro. Gary Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home. Maxine , always knew who I was every time I saw her regardless to where I saw her . She was a very loving lady and would help anyone that need it if she could.
I am sorry for your lost but she is in a beautiful place now with no pain.

Maxine was one of a kind she was loving, caring, honest and one of the most wonderful women that I have ever known. I am so thankful that I could call her my cousin and my friend. I will miss you Maxine. May God Bless and keep all the family in his tender arms until we meet again.

May your memories bring you much comfort.

I remember the many stories my mother told that included Maxine in them. They would have been about the same age. My mother, Marie Howell Alsbrooks Cheatham died in 1998. She'll be there to welcome her into Heaven.

God recieved another Angel home this week and we lost a shining star..She was a truly wonderful friend..Just think about it, she is smiling and she has found her loved ones she has missed so much..she is at peace..I will miss her so very much and I am glad to be called her friend..I loved her like family..Rela Havard.
