

Services for Mildred Martin Tucker, 90, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 5205 S. First Street, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel, with Steve Killam officiating, with interment following in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Tucker was born August 1, 1925 in Douglas, Texas, the daughter of the late Mary Lovice (Leonard) and Walter Leonard Miller. She passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Tucker lived in the Lufkin area all her life. Being from a large family, she was a strong, independent, loyal, and determined lady. The most important thing in her life was her family. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She loved being around children. She was referred to as the P.E. lady when she worked at Coston. She later worked at the Lufkin State School where she retired in 1987. After retirement, she remained active working with her church and walking with friends every day at the mall. Of course, she usually did a little shopping, especially for a new pair of high-heeled shoes.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wes Fielder; son and daughter-in-law, Jarrell Wayne and Shayr Martin; grandchildren, Alan and Malena Poe, Jason and Diana Kelley, Adam and Michelle Parrie, Cliff Kelley, Patrick Kelley and Jennifer Collins; great-grandchildren, Samantha Sanchez, Stephen Poe, Brittany Kelley, Austin Kelley, Michael Johnson, Kristin Kelley, Caleb Collins and Blake Collins; 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, James and Doris Miller and Larry Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Freddie and Glen Havard; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her spouses, Woodrow J. Martin and Frank Tucker; brothers, Morris Miller and W. L. Miller, Jr.; sisters, Lillian Easley, Ruth Bobbitt and Mary Hutson; and great-granddaughter, Nicole Poe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Tucker’ memory may be made to St. Paul’s Methodist Church, 1505 S. John Redditt, Lufkin, TX 75904; or to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, TX 75904
The family will receive friends from10:00 a.m. until service time at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel, 5202 S. First Street, in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
