

Services for Nelwyn (Nell) Forrest Shoemaker, 78, of Hemphill, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Mike Forrest officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Shoemaker was born March 17, 1935 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Addie (Johnson) and Richard Coleman Forrest, Sr. She passed away peacefully Sunday, June 9, 2013 in a local hospital.
Nell married Hardy Shoemaker, the love of her life, on August 10, 1957 and was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Houston where they made their life until they retired to Toledo Bend in 1995. Mrs. Shoemaker was retired from Merichem Company after 20 years of service.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Rumph of Hemphill; grandchildren, Matthew Adamek of Pearland, Allen Adamek and Steven Adamek, both of Hemphill; and sisters, Doris Jean Phillips of Lufkin and Joann Ray of Palestine.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shoemaker was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Shoemaker; brother, R. C. Forrest, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Ray Phillips and James F. Ray; and sister-in-law, Louise Forrest.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Kupec, Billy Forrest, Stephen Forrest, Gary Forrest, and Hershel Shoemaker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Adamek, Matthew Adamek, Allen Adamek, Steven Adamek and David Johnson.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Castle Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for the care shown to Mrs. Shoemaker.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
