Onesimo Rojo

The Mass of Christian Burial, with the body present, for Onesimo Rojo, 66, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, with Reverend Joby Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening in the Chapel of Gipson Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Onesimo was born on February 28, 1959, in Ameca El Viejo, Mexico, the son of the late Alicia (Gamboa) and Antonio Rojo. He passed away at a local hospital on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Mr. Rojo was the owner of Rojo’s Concrete for 32 years, providing concrete services to many builders in the area. He was the first Mexican providing concrete services in the area —and even beyond the state—to earn the trust of contractors, builders, and suppliers because of his expertise and reliability. Onesimo loved his children, horses, and his little dog Blondie. He spent most of his time outdoors, usually fixing things or helping wherever he was needed. He also loved visiting Lufkin BBQ and making his daily coffee stops at the gas station.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sonia Rojo; his children Ruby Burton and her husband Trey, Antonio Rojo, and Jacqueline Rojo-Espinoza and her husband Kevin; his grandchildren Julia Cook, Joseph Ruben Rojo, Gabriel Luke Rojo, Cohen Burton, and Beckham Burton; his great-granddaughter Kylie Saxelby; his siblings Raymundo Rojo, Concepción Carbajal, Marcelina Rojo, José Antonio Rojo, Antonio Rojo, and Rumaldo Rojo; as well as numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Rojo and Alicia Gamboa; and his siblings Oralia Rojo, Evodio Rojo, Juana Terrazas, Amparo Rojo, and Godelevo Rojo.

Pallbearers will be Miguel Muñoz, Antonio Rojo, Antonio Carbajal, José Antonio Rojo, Samuel Villegas, and Tony Rojo.

La Misa de la Cristiana Sepultura con cuerpo presente para Onesimo Rojo, de 66 años, de Lufkin, se celebrará a las 11:00 a.m. el viernes 5 de Diciembre de 2025 en la Iglesia Católica St. Andrew, con El Reverendo Joby Thomas, como celebrante. El sepelio seguirá en el Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

El Santo Rosario se rezará a las 6:30 p.m. el jueves por la tarde en la Capilla de Gipson Funeral Home, donde la familia recibirá a familiares y amigos de 5:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m.

Onesimo nació el 28 de Febrero de 1959 en Ameca El Viejo, México, hijo de los fallecidos Alicia (Gamboa) y Antonio Rojo. Falleció en un hospital local el sábado 29 de Noviembre de 2025.

El Sr. Rojo fue dueño de Rojo’s Concrete durante 32 años, brindando servicios de concreto para muchos constructores del área. Fue el primer mexicano en ofrecer servicios de concreto en la zona —y aún más allá del estado—en ganarse la confianza de contratistas, constructores y proveedores por su experiencia y confiabilidad. Onesimo amaba a sus hijos, los caballos y a su perrita Blondie. Pasaba la mayor parte de su tiempo al aire libre, usualmente arreglando cosas o ayudando donde fuera necesario. Tambien le encantaba visitar Lufkin BBQ y hacía sus recorridos diarios por café en la gasolinera.

Le sobreviven su esposa durante 47 años, Sonia Rojo; sus hijos, Ruby Burton y su esposo Trey, Antonio Rojo, y Jacqueline Rojo-Espinoza y su esposo Kevin; sus nietos, Julia Cook, Joseph Ruben Rojo, Gabriel Luke Rojo, Cohen Burton y Beckham Burton; su bisnieta, Kylie Saxelby; sus hermanos, Raymundo Rojo, Concepción Carbajal, Marcelina Rojo, José Antonio Rojo, Antonio Rojo y Rumaldo Rojo; así como numerosos otros familiares.

Le precedieron en muerte sus padres, Antonio Rojo y Alicia Gamboa; y sus hermanos, Oralia Rojo, Evodio Rojo, Juana Terrazas, Amparo Rojo y Godelevo Rojo.

Portadores del féretro seran Miguel Munoz, Antonio Rojo, Antonio Carbajal, Jose Antonio Rojo, Samuel Villegas, and Tony Rojo.
