She was born on March 17, 1912 to D. F. and Josephine (Calhoun) Weaver in the Beulah Community of Angelina County. Ms. Pearl lived her entire life in Angelina County, attending school in Beulah and Diboll.
She married Avy Joe Havard in 1929. They made their home in the Prairie Grove Community, where she lived for seventy eight years. She moved to Lufkin in 2009 and continued to live with her daughter, Wanda. She loved the outdoors, where she excelled in raising a vegetable garden and always had beautiful flowers around the homestead. Early in life, she joined her husband going into the woods during hunting season, where she can be credited with getting her limit of wild animals on all the hunts.
Ms. Pearl loved Texas history. Because of her long life, she was able to expand on the life histories of many people. She loved to visit the Manning Community.
Some of her great accomplishments were cooking for her family, which included Fourth of July picnics and large crowds at Christmas time. Their home was always filled with laughter, music and little children. She would play the piano, guitar and sing along with everyone whenever the occasion presented itself. She loved to sing the old time Southern Gospel songs written by the One Time Stamps Quartet. She was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.
She worked for the Diboll Independent School District for thirteen years, driving a school bus, under the supervision of Mr. W. F. Pate.
