

Ralph Alexander Corbett, Jr., 93, of Lufkin, was born on February 23, 1918 in Denison, Texas, the son of the late Grace and Ralph Alexander Corbett, Sr. He passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Corbett was preceded in death in 2008 by his beloved wife Jean, after 64 years of marriage. He worked as an oil and gas distributor and as a Fina petroleum consignee for many years. He was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Corbett and his wife Jean both were dedicated bowlers, a hobby which they enjoyed together through many years of their lives. They traveled throughout Texas as well as several other states to bowl in numerous state and national tournaments. Mr. Corbett was presented with a prestigious 300 ring by the American Bowling Congress for bowling a perfect game in the early 1980s.
Mr. Corbett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lufkin and had resided in Lufkin for most of his life.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ronnie Snodgrass; granddaughter and husband, Julie and Glen Kimble; great-grandson, Austin Kimble; great-granddaughter, Peyton Kimble; step-grandson, David Snodgrass and his wife Teri and their children, Kaela, Brandon and Cameron; step-granddaughter, Leslie Detrick and her husband Danny and their children, Christopher and Hannah; brother-in-law, Calvin Pickard; as well as several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Corbett was preceded in death by his brother, Howard; and his sister, Margaret.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Snodgrass, Glen Kimble, Austin Kimble, David Snodgrass, Jeff Pickard and Bobby Ferguson.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Otteson.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mr. Cobett's memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
Services for Mr. Corbett will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
