Raymond Earl Solly

Services for Raymond Earl Solly, 76, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Coleman officiating. Eulogy will be offered by Lynn Stanford. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan.

Raymond was born July 11, 1938 in Hemphill, Texas, the son of the late Linnie (Herrin) and Plumer Solly. He passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 in a local hospice facility.

Raymond was a loving father, grandfather, and brother and was devoted to all he loved! He was a nature lover and enjoyed working in his garden. He was a sports fanatic and a devoted Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, and Texas Longhorns fan. He was raised in the Assembly of God Faith. Raymond served his country in the United States Army and United States Navy from 1956 to 1962.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Vicky Solly of Beaumont, Jason and Paula Solly of Katy; Ramey and Krissa Solly of Livingston, Lynn and Diana Stanford of Stockman, and Dwayne and Stephanie Stanford of Diboll; grandchildren, Morgan and Caleb, Anna, Blayne, and Luke, Alana, Keith, Chrisie, Jacob, Daniel, and Michael; great-grandchildren, William, Brook, Skyler, Avery, Ryder, Laney and Kaidence; brother and sister-in-law, Drayton and Reva Solly of Lufkin; nieces and nephews, Cara, Kendra, Brian, Brianne, Savanna, Tiffany, Ashton, Claire, Bud, Kim, Brenton, Jason, Shaylon, Cole, William, Sylvia, Briley, Adam, Sean, and Emry.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his brothers, Dwaine Solly and Weldon Solly; sister, Judy Carolyn Solly; son, Keith Solly; and loving best friend, Sue Stanford.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Stanford, Jacob Stanford, Michael Stanford, Caleb Stanford, Don Graham, and Julian Rios.

Honorary pallbearers will be Drayton Dwayne Solly, Timothy Solly, Blake Brookshire, Jake Solly, and Drayton Edward Solly.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
