Services for Rita Grimes Boyd, 96, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Boyd was born October 13, 1922 in Shelby County, Texas, the daughter of the late Etta (Brown) and William Robert Barton. She passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Boyd was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, painting, traveling and playing “42”.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Monica Hensley of Pennington; great-granddaughter, Whitney Maxey and husband Will of Corrigan; great-grandson, Trent Hensley of Groveton; great-granddaughter, Makenzie White of Pennington; great-grandson, Jerry White of Pennington; great great-grandsons, Teagan and Sloane Maxey of Corrigan; step-grandsons, Ben and Gil Grimes; step-granddaughter, Lisa Acker; stepson, Glen Grimes; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents; Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her husbands, E. E. Grimes and Dalton Boyd; son, Don Grimes; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Pallbearers will be Ben Grimes, Patrick Rivenbark, Trent Hensley, Will Maxey, Buddy Barton and Thomas Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
