Robert Ray Mettlen Sr.

Mr. Mettlen enjoyed wrestling, camping and fishing. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a member of Colmesneil Assembly of God Church. He was a security officer. Mr. Mettlen served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

He is survived by wife, Evelyn Mettlen of Colmesneil, TX; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Mettlen, Jr. of Lufkin,TX, Mike and Amy Mettlen of Grand Prairie, TX, William and Heather Mettlen of Ft. Hood, TX, Keith Mettlen of Colmesneil, TX, Kevin Mettlen of Liberty, TX and Gary and Marisol Mettlen of Diboll, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Barry Davis of Evans, LA; half-sister, Candy Kitchens of Lufkin, TX; half-brother, Tony Frank Mettlen, Jr. of Etoile, TX; brother, John Mettlen of Warren, TX; special adopted daughters, Tami Mann of Colmesneil, TX and Valarie Beaseley of Porter, TX; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley K. Shird; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his favorite house "poochle", Molly.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marie Mettlen; infant sister; and Grandpa Young.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Egypt Cemetery in Colmesneil, TX with Bro. Kirbbie Cowart officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Gipson Funeral Home.
