Robert Wesley Oliver, of Pollok, TX, was born on February 18, 1966, in Lufkin, Texas, and passed away on August 14, 2024, at the age of 58. Rob was a skidder operator who dedicated his life to the logging industry and his family. He was a man of very few words or shown emotions, but had a heart of gold! Always ready to help dig you out of a mud hole or give you the shirt off his back, he might cuss a little but he would be there no matter what time it was. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable; they were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, from daily visits, ATV rides, and being out on the boats.
Robert is survived by his mother, Nancy Perkins, and step-father, Gerald Perkins; his daughter, Kimberly Pitts, and son-in-law, Larry Pitts; his son, Jeff Rogers, and girlfriend Amber Acosta; his sister, Kelly Brasher, and brother-in-law, Clay Brasher; and his step-sisters, Anita Pierson, Pam Ellisor, and T.J. Perkins. He also leaves behind his dear grandchildren, Neches and Jolie Pitts; his aunt, Dolly Brasuell; and will be lovingly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Oliver; grandfather, Eugene Martin; uncle, Gene Edward Martin; and his granddaughter, Adalyna Pitts.
Robert was a man of few words but offered his love through his actions. His best advice was to “cook with love,” a reflection of his caring nature. He had a deep passion for trucks, hunting, fishing, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Robert will be remembered for his loving spirit and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin, TX, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 4-6 pm, with a Celebration of Robert’s Life to follow on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 11 am. He will be laid to rest in Redtown at Sand Flat Cemetery next to his father.
Robert will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
