

Services for Roy Collins Kurth, 56, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Havard officiating and Eulogy by Ryan Kurth Hall. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Kurth was born August 11, 1958 in Camp Zama, Honshu, Japan and passed away March 9, 2015 at his residence. He was the son of Sara-Ella (Collins) Kurth and the late Dr. Robert Lee Kurth, Sr. of Lufkin.
Mr. Kurth was a 1976 graduate of Lufkin High School and went on to attend several technical schools and colleges. He was an active member of the Lufkin High School Band Alumni and was a certified diver. Roy worked in sales in the Audio and Video business and had served as the manager of Hillcrest Fidelity in Dallas and for Branch-Patton in Nacogdoches. Mr. Kurth was a descendant of the first white settler in Angelina County, G. T. W. Collins, who arrived in Texas in 1820. Roy was a member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church and also held membership in Sons of the American Revolution, General Society of the War of 1812, General Society of Colonial Wars, Sons of the Revolution and Sons of the Republic of Texas.
Survivors include daughter, Ashley Kurth Allen and husband, Bob of Lewisville, TX; mother, Sara Collins Kurth; brother, Robert Kurth, Jr.; sister, Karen Kurth Hall and husband, Ronnie, all of Lufkin; aunt, Bolivia Collins Powell and husband, Connally of Dallas; nieces, Annabelle Kurth and Kristen Hall Reid; nephew, Ryan Kurth Hall and wife, Rusti, all of Lufkin; three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew.
Mr. Kurth was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Robert Lee Kurth, Sr.; grandparents, Roy Wren and Gertrude Kurth and Bolivar Lee and Lottie Belle Collins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
