Ruth Gibson Lucas, 87, of Angleton, was born June 29, 1923 in Zavalla, Texas, the daughter of the late Laura (Cowell) and Noah Gibson. She passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 in a Houston hospital.
Mrs. Lucas enjoyed being a band director for several years in Bay City and Dickinson, Texas. She later settled in Angelton and enjoyed being a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Joy Skach and husband Allen of Angleton; three grandchildren, Victoria Skach-Podism and husband Ryan Podsim of Conway, AR, Anthony Skach of Stillwater, OK, and Cynthia Skach of College Station.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hardy Lucas, on April 17, 2010; sisters, Zetheal Kinard, Verba Landrum and Glea Sandlin and by her brother, Gentry "Sonny" Gibson.
Graveside services for Mrs. Lucas will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2010 in the Zavalla Cemetery with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating.
