Born on May 17, 1960, Sally was the beloved daughter of the late Betty Elizabeth (Dixon) and Warren Russell. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, all of whom helped shape the generous and joyful spirit she carried throughout her life.
Sally dedicated more than 30 years to education, teaching 4th through 6th grade at Corrigan-Camden. She loved her students dearly and believed deeply in the power of learning. Known for her big laugh and even bigger heart, Sally brought warmth and silliness to the classroom and beyond. Her signature color was pink, which perfectly matched her vibrant and cheerful personality.
She is survived by her sisters, Vickie and Troi Russell; her brother, Timothy Russell and his wife Samantha; her cherished nieces, Elizabeth and Isabella Russell; and her adored cat, Hercules. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, former students, and friends whose lives she touched with her compassion and humor.
Sally had a passion for cross stitch and romance novels, and she was a loyal sports fan, especially of figure skating. She loved playing on her computer, spoiling her little brother Timmy, and fiercely loved the many pets she cared for over the years.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel located at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. All who knew and loved Sally are invited to attend and honor her memory.
Sally’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and a genuine love for teaching will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
