Sherman Allen

Mr. Sherman was born August 28, 1939, in Allentown, son of the late Bessie Lee (Allen) and B.L. Allen. He passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at a local hospital.

Mr. Sherman graduated high school from Central High School. He worked for Lufkin Industries then married Bernice Robertson on April 17, 1959. He worked for Temple Fiberboard Plant then retired after 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and cowboy. He loved to team and calf rope. He was the President of the Cedar Creek Grumpy Ole men’s fishing club (members you know who you are). Mr. Sherman was a great husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his family, and was a great friend to many.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Robertson Allen, of Lufkin; daughters, Cheri Martin and her husband Steve, Tammy Stubblefield and her husband Kenneth, all of Lufkin; son, Chad Allen and his wife Shellie, of Lufkin; grandchildren, Deris Martin and his wife Kim, Brittany Martin, Chase Aldredge, Ashton Allen, Ty Allen and Carson Allen; great-grandchildren, Mersadie and Kash Martin, Tylene Bumstead and Alexis Aldredge.

Mr. Sherman was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Elvin Dias, Dennis Vansau, Ricky Allen, Charlie Allen, Calvin Allen and Sam Turner.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
