Shirley Jean Dobbs

Shirley Jean Dobbs, 76, was born on August 18, 1949, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Ida Atherine (Crager) Henry and Lonnie Burl Henry. She passed away peacefully at her home in Texas City, Texas, on July 29, 2026.

A graveside celebration of Shirley's life will be held at Sims/Rocky Hill Cemetery in Huntington, Texas, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to those around her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Adren "Bubba" Dobbs; her brothers, Marvin Henry and Robert Henry and wife Carylon; and her sister, Lawrencie Ann Taton and husband Cecil.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tammy Erwin and husband Rodney, Spencer W. Dobbs and wife Stephanie, and Spencer Nicole and husband Josh; her sister-in-law, Liz Henry; her grandchildren, Ashley and husband Eric, Nick and wife Kristin, Amanda, Chelsey, Samantha and husband Louis, Jessica and husband Alan, Stephen and wife Kristen; her great-grandchildren, Joseph and wife Cheyenne, Tristan, Scarlette, Levi, Adryanna, Mackenzie, Beaux, Henry, Little Nick, Don Wylon, Carter, Rilee, Jonathan, Daisy, Brooklyn, Bryntleigh, Oakleigh, Warren, Remington, Maverick, Hadleigh, Lainey; and her great-great grandchild, Nevaeh, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless others whose lives she touched.

Shirley found joy in the simple things in life. She loved working in her garden, getting lost in a good book, and traveling whenever she had the opportunity. More than anything, she treasured her family. Her home was always a welcoming place, and she had a gift for making everyone feel loved. Around the neighborhood she was known simply as "Granny," a name that reflected the warmth, wisdom, and kindness she shared so freely. Shirley often said she didn't have friends because she considered everyone family, and she lived that belief every day.

Her legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, and a heart that always had room for one more. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but the memories she created will continue to bring comfort and smiles for years to come.
