

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, for Sister Mary John of the Precious Blood, O.P., (Helen Anne Molesworth), in the Chapel of the Monastery followed by interment in the Monastery Cemetery, with Most Rev. Joseph Strickland, Bishop of Tyler, celebrant.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the Monastery of the Infant Jesus.
Sister Mary John was born August 21, 1940 in Houston, TX to the late Charles Henry Molesworth and Anne Fetsch, and passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Monastery of the Infant Jesus.
She attended Holy Rosary Elementary School, Houston, TX, St. Agnes Academy, Houston, TX and Sacred Heart Dominican College, Houston, TX. Before entering the Monastery, Sister taught at Holy Ghost Elementary and Corpus Christi Elementary, both in Houston.
Sister Mary John entered the Monastery on February 2, 1963, made First Profession on November 26, 1964 and Solemn Profession three years later. In her 54 years at the Monastery, Sister Mary John served our Community as prioress for 12 years. Through her multiple years in maintenance, Sister touched many lives in the Lufkin community. She helped many people through her prayers, her letters, parlor visits, and most of all, by her openness to God and His will for her, especially in the gracious and peaceful acceptance of her terminal illness.
Sister is survived by her brother, Charles Henry Molesworth, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Forest Hills, NY; her niece, Helen Molesworth and Susan Dackerman, of Los Angeles, CA; nephew, James Molesworth and his wife, Nancy, and their two daughters of New York; and several cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
