Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jeff and Faye Cole and Woodrow and Helen Harrison; and her sister, Christina Michelle Cole.
She is survived by her loving parents, Gordon and Brenda Cole; her brother, Jason Cole and wife Soni; nieces and nephews, Derik Havard of Conroe, Taygan Snider of Conroe, Abigail Searles of Fultonville, New York, Dryden Snider and fiancée Kiersten Whitaker of The Woodlands, Grace Hernandez and husband Jorge of Wells, and Emma Martin and husband Peyton of Lufkin; as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews, Everett Havard, Saelyr Snider, and Woodrow Hernandez.
Susan's life was nothing short of a testimony to the goodness and faithfulness of God. Born deaf, blind, and completely disabled, Susan was given a prognosis of only two months to live. Yet God's plans were far greater. The doctors said two months, but the Lord blessed Susan with 47 years of life. Every day she lived was a miracle, and her life became a powerful testimony of God's grace, mercy, and sustaining power.
At just 14 months old, Susan became a resident of the Lufkin State Supported Living Center, where she spent the remainder of her life surrounded by caregivers, nurses, staff members, and friends whose lives she touched in countless ways. Though Susan could not communicate with words, those who knew her understood that she possessed a unique awareness of the people she loved. She always knew when her Mama, Dad, or brother was near, and she responded to their presence with a connection that transcended words.
From the moment she was born, Susan touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her nurses, doctors, caregivers, and family all experienced the light of Christ through her life. She never spoke a sermon, yet her life preached one every day. Through every challenge she faced, Susan demonstrated the beauty of unconditional love, perseverance, and God's unfailing faithfulness.
Her passing carries a special significance to her family. Susan's beloved sister, Christi, who was also born with disabilities, preceded her in death. In what her family views as one final miracle and testimony of God's perfect plan, Susan entered Heaven on the exact same calendar day as her sweet sister—49 years later. For Gordon and Brenda, this extraordinary connection serves as a comforting reminder that God's hand was present throughout both of their daughters' lives and remains present still.
Susan was loved deeply by all who knew her. While many may have seen limitations, her family saw a life filled with purpose. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope, and the reminder that every life is precious and valuable in the eyes of God.
Her family rejoices in knowing that Susan is now whole, healed, and forever in the presence of her Savior.
