

Suzanne (Kendrick) Walker, was born August 11, 1934 in Virginia, Minnesota, and passed from this life on February 17, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas. Her parents were William Lloyd Kendrick and Lennia (Friedman) Kendrick, and her siblings were Noureen Byrd Ronchetto and William C. Kendrick.
The family moved from Minnesota during WW2 to Daingerfield, TX, where her father worked at Lone Star Steel plant. She graduated from Daingerfield High in 1952, and attended college at North Texas State, Nevada College of Commerce and Texas State College for Women. She married high school classmate T.C. Walker, Jr. on Dec. 21, 1956, and they had 3 children: AnDrea, Lenee and Christopher. She worked as a secretary and office manager for Lone Star Steel, for the US Census, Angelina County, Deep East Texas Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services, Angelina College Vo-Tech department and for Dr. David Johnson. She loved to ice skate as a child in Minnesota, “swam like a fish” and learned to slalom style water ski. She was an avid flower and plant gardener, and was happiest when her hands were in the dirt. She loved music, poetry and literature, and was a life long history buff, especially about British history. She grew up attending either Methodist or Presbyterian churches, depending on where her family lived, then joined First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) first in Longview, and later in Lufkin when the family moved here in 1970. This has been her home for the past 55 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, by her husband T.C., and is survived by her children and their spouses Drea and Bill Skye, Lenee and Jeff McDonald, Chris Walker, four grandchildren: Lennia Skye Martin, Bailey McDonald, Austin Walker and Taylor Walker, and two great-grandchildren, Brailah Walker and Kannon Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made in her memory to the local food bank, and to St. Jude’s Children’s.
