At a young age, Mr. Jacildo's life was full of challenges. He came from a poor and uneducated family. His father died when he was in 3rd grad. Being the oldest child, he decided to work for a wealthy family (the Jacildo's) when he was in the 4th grade to help support his family. The Jacildos were very impressed of his perseverance and hard work that the decided to adopt him and help him through high school. He worked had, studied hard, and was the top of his class. He put himself through college in the Philippines, working as a full time butcher while having a family of his own. He graduated in Finance with honors, which he completed in less than 3 years.
He worked as a Medical Representative for several pharmaceutical companies, both domestic and international, including Boehringer Ingelheim, which he served for 28 years in the Philippines. He received several awards for consistently achieving the highest quota. His career path with Boehringer Ingelheim was very competitive and challenging. But his loyalty, dedication, integrity and perseverance to his employer and his love for his family made him very successful.
He retired from Boehringer Ingelheim and immigrated with his wife to the United States on February 28, 1988. He became a U. S. citizen and decided to continue working in the U. S. He worked for 10 years at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital in the Maintenance Department. He spent his second retirement with his beautiful and loving wife in Palacios, Texas for 10 years. They spent the last years of their life with their oldest daughter, Janet Knox.
Papa was the spark and heart of the family. He had a beautiful smile and charismatic personality. He loved to sing, dance and spend quality times with his family. He was spontaneous but determined, fun but strict, loving, devoted, hardworking and strong. He was a devout Catholic, a wonderful husband, a great father and grandfather. He set the standards high for his children and grandchildren. College was never an option. It was an expectation. He was our role model. Just like our mother, he instilled the importance of family, education and religion to his children and grandchildren. Papa, we thank you for everything that you have done for us. Your legacy will go on and will be remembered. Goodbye for now and rest in peace, dear Papa. We love you and will miss you very much. Until we meet again.
