

Violet Smith Waltmon entered this world on July 24, 1918 and went to her heavenly home to meet her Savior on May 26, 2011. She was met there by her parents, W. E. and Lillie Smith; husband, James C. Waltmon; beloved brothers and sister, Eugene, Earl and Ernest Smith and Margarete Hales. She leaves behind to love and cherish her memory, three generations of loved ones; her son, James Larry Waltmon and wife, Betty of Marquez and daughter, Brenda Martin and husband, Jimmy of Diboll. She also leaves four grandchildren, James Daniel Waltmon and wife, Norma, John Waltmon, Jennifer Greer and husband, Chris and Keith Mullins and wife, Melissa; seven great-grandchildren, Sammy, Brandon, Cameron, Justin and Ryan Waltmon, Ashley Greer and Isabel Mullins; brother, Franklin Smith and wife, Crystelle; sister-in-law, Helen Smith; sisters, Betty Marie Smith, Julia Torbert and husband, Warren, Mary Sue Shelton and Earlene Chandler and husband, Jerry.
Violet worked in sales for more than 26 years at Foley's in downtown Houston. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Diboll. She also enjoyed flower gardening.
A special thank you goes to the staff at Trinity Mission of Diboll, for all the love and support they have given in the last eight months.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Chandler and Rev. Raymond Dunkin officiating. Interment will follow in the Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
