

Services for Lucille Strickland, 84, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 5205 S. First Street, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Kenny Hibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Strickland was born September 6, 1930 in Grayson County, Texas, the daughter of the late Judy Elizabeth (Davis) and Horace Morgan. She passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Strickland was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a retired telephone operator. She never met a stranger and enjoyed being outdoors. She had a green thumb and could grow anything.
Survivors include her daughters, Libby Place and Debbie Bass, both of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Nethia and Lynn Glover of Lufkin and Faith and Richard Tolly of Frankston; 11 grandchildren; 1 step-grandson; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherrian Elaine Strickland; great-granddaughter, Kirstee Williams; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Mrs. Strickland’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Strickland’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the staffs of Heart to Heart Hospice and Southland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for the loving care shown to her.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
