

Services for Walter Dee Bowman, 99, of Diboll, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 in Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery in Diboll.
Mr. Bowman was born January 25, 1918 in Grapeland, TX, the son of the late Gertrude (Farrell) and William D. Bowman, and passed away October 6, 2017 in Diboll.
Mr. Bowman was a laborer for Temple White for thirty years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding 3 and 4 wheelers and he mowed his own yard until the age of 98. He loved all sports and especially enjoyed watching all the sports his grandchildren pursued, including drill team. He never missed a family fish fry or barbeque and he sat in his lawn chair and supervised all the activities. Papa Dee was of the Baptist faith. He lived a hard life, but a lively and vibrant life.
Survivors include daughter, Betty Martin; step-children, Shirley Terrell, Wayne Nash and Georgann, Carroll Nash and Barbara; step-daughter-in-law, Jeannie Nash; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Inez Bowman; first wife, Dorothy Bowman; sister, Hurtha Spurger; brothers, Clyde, Knox, and Harrell Bowman; daughter, DeAnna Sandifer; son, Jerry Bowman; step-sons, Kenneth Nash, Charles Whitworth and Melvin Whitworth.
Pallbearers will be Keith Whitworth, Jimmy Nash, Wyatt Nash, Kenny Nash, Jonathan Terrell, Jimmy Terrell, and Michael Nash.
