

Reverend Sharry was raised in and around Eakly, Oklahoma. He spent his early life as a farmer. God had other plans for him, though, and in 1953 he was ordained to the gospel ministry and pastored churches in Oklahoma and Texas for over 50 years. His life was dedicated to serving the Lord. He was presently a member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church in Lufkin.
He is survived by his wife, Alta; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Wright of Lufkin, Arlena and Cecil Wilson of Lufkin and Joy and Carroll Nash of Diboll; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Linda Sharry of Atlanta, Texas and Don and E'Lane Sharry of Sugar Land, Texas; stepson and daughter-in-law, Paul and Chloetta Harrison of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Roger Jordan, Cheryl Farris, Craig Sharry, Lisa Costner, Shaun Sharry, Jamie Sharry, Troy Lamp, Ben Lamp, Renee Weeks, Teresa Ditsworth, Chris Nash, Marcus Nash, Stephen Nash and Ashley Calvillo; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Sharry of Moore, Oklahoma and Kenneth Sharry of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma.
Reverend Sharry was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Belle Sharry; his parents, James and Chloe Sharry; brothers, Cecil Sharry and Willard Sharry; and sisters, Irene Simpson and Betty Johnson.
Reverend Sharry's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Services for Reverend Sharry will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Blackie Cranford and Bro. Roy Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
