Wendell lived a full and active life. He had a lifelong passion for coaching and ranching and loved watching sports — especially when his grandchildren were playing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Gay of Mineola; daughter, Wendy Gonzales of Mabank; son, Clint Gay of Carrollton; and grandchildren, Adrian Gonzales, Caleb Gonzales, and Matthew Gonzales. He is also survived by his brothers, Dilbert Gay (and wife Gail) and Gary Thomas; close friend Coach Randy Boley; and numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
